Join Us AS We Remember The Heroes Of 911

Posted in Annoucement, Sermons, Weekly Bell Ringer on September 8, 2016 by jacobschurch

This Sunday September 11, 2016 will be the 15th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center. We will honor the victims, heroes, and their families as we remember them in our prayers and words of condolences.

Let’s not forget to give a hearty thank you to their comrades, all the first responders, the fireman, the police, the soldiers and the medical staff in our lives today.

We also will worship and give thanks to God for keeping us safe through these days of evil aggression.

We, at Jacob’s Church, will be having a special Sunday service in which we will remember them.

Testimonies of that day will be shared by:

Dwayne Smith, who was part of the Secret Service Team that secured the White House on 911. He was assigned to protect the presidential family and the White House Staff and was on duty that day. He’ll share some of those memories.

Rori Cannon Daughtridge, now Pastor Daughtridge’s daughter-in law, did not go to work that day. She normally walked by the Trade Center but from the riverside in terror she watched the second plane crashed into the tower. Her future husband, Ryan, was in Africa calling everyone he knew to find out if she was alright. Though they we estranged for two years he knew the love of his life was somewhere near that Trade Center. Rori can tell the rest of the story.

Pastor Richard will sing ‘Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning.

The sermon for Sunday will be, “Out of the Rubble Stood a Cross” by Pastor Richard.

We will have a prayer for the families of the 911 tragedy, for the first responders that protect us today and for America, the nation we love.

Service will begin at 9:30 AM Directions 495 Harbaugh Valley Road just off Rt.16 between Blue Ridge Summit and Emmittsburg. Proceed east on Route 16 out of Waynesboro, after Blue Ridge Sportsman club turn right at next road. Church is just up the road on right. Look for sign on Rt.16 and Harbaugh Valley Road.

Special Conclusion this Sunday.” From a Thorn to a Throne” April 3

Posted in Annoucement, Events, Sermons, Weekly Bell Ringer on April 1, 2016 by jacobschurch

From a Thorn To A Throne
This Sunday we will conclude our sermon series “The Crown of His Majesty”. We will take the crown of thorns off the cross, We’ll remove the stone left at the foot of the cross, typical of the one thrown at the woman caught in adultery. The sign, at the top of the cross, will no longer read,” King of the Jews”, but “King of Kings and Lord of Lords”. The little sign we placed at the bottom of the cross, “I did this for you”, will now take on a new meaning. He will never again hang on an old rugged cross nor wear a crown of thorns, but sit on a throne at God the Father’s right hand. Our sermon this Sunday, “From a Thorn to a Throne,” will take us in our journey to Heaven where we’ll see what the Apostle John saw. A Risen Savior being crowned by those that love Him. We continue to gather stones, not to throw, but precious jewels for a Crown of His Majesty. Service starts at 9:30 Sunday morning April 3rd. Come prepared to worship. Jacob’s church is located at 495 Harbaugh Valley Road, just off Rt 16 between Waynesboro and Emmetsburg, Maryland. Look for sign on Rt. 16.

Crown of Thorns bulletin For the past weeks we’ve followed Jesus along the Sea of Galilee. Wow, what a trip. He disarmed the stone throwers, healed the blind, made the lame to walk, raised the dead, cleansed the lepers and unfolded a plan for the salvation of man. Does such deserve to wear a crown of thorns and be nailed to a cross?

Our world seems out of control at times.

The Apostle John in Revelation 5 said he wept when no one was found worthy to open the book which contained the power to end and vindicate the evil that man had allowed to spiral out of control. He was comforted to be told that The Lion of Judah was ready to take the world back. Looking for this big Lion he saw only a lamb.

This week we see the Lamb led down the road of a king to be his execution. Then we realize that the very Passover lamb is in fact the Lion. He will die as a lamb but be raised into a Lion after three days. In the last three sermons we will replace the crown of thorns with a new crown that we will give Him.

Like the wise Kings of Christmas, we will bring our gifts fit for a King. “The King is Coming” is an appropriate title for this week’s sermon. Sunday 20th I will introduce the King of the Jews, The Lamb of God. Sunday 27th after he was unjustly put to death we will see the Father raise him from the dead. The Lion of the Tribe of Judah will prevail. Then on April 3rd we will Crown him with many crowns. Don’t miss a single service. Special music in each service. Services begin at 9:30 at Jacobs Church 495 Harbaugh Valley Road just off Route 16 between Waynesboro Pa. and Emmetsburg Md .
