“Can you change yourself into some sort of God that you being human can commune with him? Not likely.”

God took the first step and became human while still deity. He loved us so much that he became flesh that he could save all flesh.

Why a manger?

John 1:14 (KJV)  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Luke 2:7 (KJV)  And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

Hebrews 1:3 He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

2 Corinthians 4:18 (KJV)  While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Swaddling Clothes.

Luke 2:12 (KJV) And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

Who was Jesus Christ ?

Colossians 2:9 In him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily,

Philippians 2:7 But made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.

Hebrews 4:15  For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.

Galatians 4:4  But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law,

John 20:28  Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!”

Isaiah 9:6-7 (KJV) For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
⁷  Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
