Announcement for Sunday May 17, 2020 Outside Service

Tonight, May 11, 2020 our board at Jacob’s Church had a very difficult decision to make, concerning Sunday morning services. Many of our congregation, being rural , can’t tune in and aren’t online when we put our sermon up on is the internet. Feeding the flock is a principle of spiritual growth that is critical to the church as well as being obedient to the mission God has called us to.

Acts 2:42 (KJV) And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship…, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Hebrews 10:25 (KJV) Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

We as a board discussed four questions and sought counsel on all. The vote was unanimous with one abstaining member. Here are the notes from the board meeting. Pastor Richard

After consideration this is our plan.

1. Resuming Church Services:

a. Have we designed a plan that is safe? Yes

b. Have we designed a plan that is legal? Yes

c. Have we designed a plan that is socially acceptable to community? Yes

d. Have we designed a plan that we can all agree on? Yes

i. We should all agree as we all represent in unity what we agree on.

ii. A vote was taken on resuming church services outside beginning on May 17, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. The motion was made . A vote was taken – 12 voted for resuming services outside and 1 abstained.

iii. Sunday School classes will be cancelled until further notice. Children should stay with their parents.

iv. People should arrive in time for the service and not before in order to ensure we respect social distancing; we should avoid hugging and not socialize as we and do not “visit” from family to family.

v. People with underlying health issues should use caution and make the decision that best suits their situation; i.e.,

(1) attend the outside service using their own chairs, wear face masks, etc.;

(2) attend the outside service and stay in their car; or

(3) use social media to view the service from their home. We also recognize that the older population (over the age of 60) is more vulnerable and should also use caution. We will have services outside, with mask, social distancing, and no contact.
