Letter from Pastor Richard Daughtridge 0,03,20
Hi Everyone,
I hope this letter finds you safe and healthy. I think we all can agree we have never witnessed anything like this pandemic. As a pastor I feel hopeless trying to help everyone through these times and yet there are things we all can do.
God told Joshua to fear not. That sounds like an impossible request and yet God doesn’t task us to do something outside of our capability. Okay then how can we conquer fear.
- Our positive confession builds up our faith.
My mom use to say, “He’s got the whole world in His hands.”
I asked her, “Do you really believe that?”
Her answer was, “After I say it I believe it more.”
Saying things that agree with God’s word builds up our faith.
He says he has everything under control. It builds our faith when we acknowledge that he does.
2 Corinthians 10: 5 (KJV) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
- We can Pray and He has promised to Hear us.
Last week I got the directory out and started to pray for each family. Amazing the things that come to your mind as you make yourself pray. I am convinced we have a lot to pray for during these shut in days.
Pray for protection, provision, health, and what ever you are led by the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 6:18 (KJV) Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
- We can be sure to express our love to God.
Never miss an opportunity to worship our Lord. Just a thank you or an expression of your love to the Father is well deserved as He watches over us.
Hebrews 13:15-16 (KJV) By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
Having done all three I know my fears have started to dissipate.
In conclusion , I just wanted take a moment and say I love you and if you need anything, food, encouragement, just to talk to someone, or you need errands run, or anything we are here for you. Phone 252-481-1188
Last week I ran an errand to my daughter’s house to deliver food for Robin and I was just to sit it on the porch and to leave. The family is trying to keep us at a distance because of Chris’s exposure in the medical world. I saw a little face come to the door and wave for me to come in. Riley placed her hands on her hips when I said I can’t. Through the glass I tried to say Granddaddy has to stay away for a while. She said I love you granddadd,y and with her hand pointing to her ear she said I will call you. She calls us everyday.
We all feel that same loss being apart as we are a church that has very much become a family. We hate being apart. It is as much a part of our Christian experience.
We will be trying to post some sermons and notes on both the Face Book Page and our www.jacobschurch.com website.
We do not know what the future holds but we know as we watch over our health and our families we have a friend and Savior, Jesus Christ, who is watching over us and deploying the angels of Heaven and God’s Holy Spirit on our behalf. We will be over this soon and I can’t wait until we are together again.
Love to All,
Pastor Richard Daughtridge, Pastor of Jacob’s Church
