Remembering Dad

Galatians 4:6   And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

1. The Rewards of Fatherhood.

“Some of the greatest achievements in parenting are the uncelebrated victories won in the prayer closet.”

“It’s more important what you say to God about your children than what you say to your children about God.”

“Trophies aren’t usually given for battles won in secret but the battle of manhood is most often fought in the obscurity of the heart. .”

Men today are measured by success, by wealth, by strength, by competition, by good looks, by dress, by esteem and social importance but the greatest scale a man can use is to measure himself is his relationship with his Godhis wife, and his children.

JOB 1:4 His sons used to take turns holding feasts in their homes, and they would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. [5] When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would send and have them purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, “Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular custom.

2.The  Spiritual Man

How would you describe a spiritual man and why?

I’ve always believed that the stature of a man was more reflected in his private life than his public life. Jesus had a lot to say about this. The most impressive religious men of that day were the Scribes and Pharisees, or were they?   Let’s listen to what Christ said.

MT 6:5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. [6] But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. [7] And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. [8] Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

3. Generational Curses or Blessing

“Tomorrow’s  generations are affected by our decisions today.”

Abraham

Genesis 13:4  Unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the Lord.

Issac

Genesis 26:25  And he builded an altar there, and called upon the name of the Lord and pitched his tent there: and there Isaac’s servants digged a well.

Jacob

Genesis 35:1  And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.

Joseph

Genesis 39:2-4  And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. [3] And his master saw that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord made all that he did to prosper in his hand. [4] And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.
