“The Day After Christmas “  sermon by Pastor Richard  Daughtridge Jan. 1, 2012

Christmas is over. The New Year  begins, and now we all must all return to  Nazareth. Back to the real world filled with the complications of choices, needs, sickness, people and yes even evil.  We are like  soldiers returning from furlough. Now it’s time to get back to the battle. Change will require faith and influence .  Nazareth will never be the same . God’s son is once again growing up in us in our Nazareth. We are now the characters of the real life pageant of Christmas.

Will Washinton, Franklin, Adams, and Frederick Counties, our Nazareth, be changed in 2012 by our faith and influence?

Will we win the battle against evil to make our world a better place?

The choice is ours.

Luke 2:39-40

And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth. [40] And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

  •  Foundation 2012

Acts 2:42

And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

  •  Action 2012

James 2:18

Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

Psalm 31:23

O love the Lord, all ye his saints: for the Lord preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.

James 1:23

For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

James 1:25

But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

  • Instruction  2012

Romans 12:2

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

  •  Thinking 2012

Philip. 4:8

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

2 Cor. 10:5

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

  •  Hoping     (Evidence of our existence)

2 Kings 7:1-3

Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria. [2] Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

[3] And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?

Father we pray for 2012 to be a year filled with hope and faith. May our Nazareth be a place of influence because of our efforts in 2012..
