“Expectations, A Two Way Street” Part five, (conclusion) “Dress Codes”, a sermon series by Pastor Richard Daughtridge, 10/16/11,

I know we could never repay God for salvation. He died for us based on Agape’  unconditional love. Because of that love doesn’t he deserve our love in return? What does that look like? One of my favorite devotionals is “My Utmost for His Highest”. I love it because it highlights both responsibilities o f this relationship, God’s and Mine.   Today in our conclusion of  “Dress Codes” we will examine two things, “What can we expect of God in this relationship?” and a question we all should be asking ourselves, “What can God expect of me?”. This is our gift. Love demands a response, or it just becomes a cheap one sided affair. I’m not sure that’s love or faith.

Romans 1 2: 1-2 KJV

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. [2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Ephesians 6: 13-20 NIV  Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,

15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel,

Romans 12:9-10 KJV  Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.
