Sermon Notes: Oct.3, 2010 “DNA of Father” by Pastor Richard Daughtridge

“DNA of Father” by Pastor Richard Daughtridge

I was so fascinated to learn the blueprint God used to create man was beyond anything I had ever imagined. I hope this entrusted design will never be taken for granted. The honor,  the glory, the power and the purpose must be taken seriously. The image of our father is more than an act. It is in fact a destiny that we were created to fulfill.

Genesis 1:27-28 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. [28] And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

It wows me to think our beginning came from God. The word father literally means beginning. He by choice made us in his own likeness.

John 20:22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

A. Christ Looked like the Father

John 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

B. We were recreated in God’s image.

1 Cor. 15:49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

C. Our Mirror is the Word and The Holy Spirit

James 1:23-25 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: [24] For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. [25] But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

2 Cor. 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

  1. The Bible shows us a reflection of ourselves.
  2. The Holy Spirit also through the still small, respectful voice of conscience allows us a glimpse of good and bad.

Col. 3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Hebrews 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
