Sermon Notes 09/10/2010 “Go tell it on the Mountain.” By Richard Daughtridge

“Go tell it on the Mountain.” By Richard Daughtridge

Three of our most important missions in life may well be lost through Politics, Tolerance, Tradition, and Selfishness if we are not careful. Democracy is tricky. While allowing freedom of religion and respecting other religions we must never be silenced as to the message God has called us to deliver, the Gospel.

Ever hear, “Religion should be private”?

The Bible teaches quite the contrary. We are instructed  to tell the world. Democracy provides  for us to share our faith and share we must. Eternity weighs in the balance. Never buy the lie that we must be silent about our faith. It is great error to think  that respecting another religion requires  you to be silent in yours.

Three Essential Missions from the Bible

1. Evangelism

2. Make Disciples

3. Teach what Christ taught

How important are these to the people we are in contact with every day?

Listen to these words from the Bible: (notes in brackets added)

Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.  (Purpose and Promise)

2 Cor. 5:18-19 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;  To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.  (Salvation and Solicitation)

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. (Training  and Target)

Ephes. 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, (Testimony and Truth)

Ezekiel 22:30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.   (Crisis and Commission)

Plan for Action. A B C

A.   Ask God for their salvation. (More important what you say to God about them than what you say to them about God)

B.   Build a bridge. Not a wall. Respect and love required.                                          C.   Communicate the Gospel
