“The Countdown to Eternity Continues”
In 2009 I did a sermon series in which I asked the question, “Will Heaven be different because of the way I view life on earth?”
We answered that question and found that Jesus taught that the charitable accomplishments of life will be rewarded in Heaven.
What are our eternal goals for 2010?
Which title best describes 2009 for you.
• Year of Survival,
• Year of Accomplishment,
• Year of Growth,
• Year of Mediocrity,
• Year of Vision,
• Year of Retreat,
• Year of Sin,
• Year of Revival,
It’s hard to believe that we are already 10 years onto a new millennium. Remember the crash of 2000, the millimium bug that was going to be the tragedy of our time. All the power grids were going to fail. There would be food shortages and chaos. We woke up January 1, 2000 only to find business as usual.
In 2009 the History Channel and the networks ran specials and documentaries asking the question, Will the world come to an end in Year 2012. Here are some of the headlines.

Their website read as follows:

Are we running out of time?
The Bible clearly teaches that no man knows the day nor the hour (regardless of the Mayan Cult).
Jesus taught that not even the angels know when the end will be, but he also taught that the day will come when no man can work.
So how do we seize the moment in 2010 and accomplish eternal recompense as individuals and as a church.
Now we look to the scriptures and critic our individual and church goals.
These were the Apostle Pauls goals. These words form an outline for us to follow.
Philip. 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
Three things to consider.
1. Resurrection (Power for Tomorrow)
2. Adversity (Winning Together over Suffering)
3. Mission (Finish the work started by Christ Death)
Philip. 3:13-17 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, [14] I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. [15] Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. [16] Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. [17] Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.

2. Press (Implement the dream of what lies ahead.)
3. Priest (Keep it in perspective.)
4. Examples (Someone walking behind you.)
The goals are noble and the need has never been greater.
