Sermon Outline 09/27/09 “Survival of the Fittest” by Richard Daughtridge

richard2“Survival of the Fittest” by Richard Daughtridge

Interesting that a term used by Charles Darwin as evidence of evolution would be the words I use to title our sermon today.

It seems to be a contradiction that Darwin’s theory, which offered no intelligent creator, no purpose of life and no eternal destiny would use this military concept as an argument for evolution.

I’m not here today to argue the merits of intelligent design and creation nor the destiny of the human spirit. You all know where I stand on that subject. In Christianity the object of our worship is Jesus, the architect of the intelligent design. John 1:1-2

Rather with today’s topic I want to discuss God sharing in our daily life experiences.  Further I’d like to discuss how our victories and accomplishment here on earth could alter the place that he is preparing for us in Heaven.

Could it be that we partnering with God on the next creation?

Christ said:

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: [20] But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:” Matthew 6:19-20

As  we journey through life we must train and prepare. We are in a sense  preparing for this glorious destiny that he’s preparing for us and even sending up materials. We must stay spiritually fit for the journey.

Will our life in Heaven be different because of how we lived our life on earth?

I believe the Bible teaches that it will.

Rewards in Heaven? Yes

Then how can we, “Be the best we can be”?

How can we become, “A living sacrifice”?

Life is a survival of the fittest.

Romans 8:37-39  Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. [38] For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, [39] Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Training (Discipleship)

1 Peter 4:7-10 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. [8] And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. [9] Use hospitality one to another without grudging. [10] As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

    Let’s Read Ephesians 6: 10-18

    Ephes. 6:10-18   Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. [11] Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. [12] For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. [13] Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. [14] Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; [15] And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; [16] Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. [17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: [18] Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

    Destiny (Crossing over to Heaven)

Matthew 25:21  His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Rev. 21:1-3 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. [2] And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. [3] And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

      “Survival of the fittest.”

I peeked at the end of the book. We win.

Let’s become the best that we can be for Christ. He gave us his best.
