Company is Coming! By Pastor Richard Daughtridge Sermon Outline Sunday 03/22/09

Headlines of “The Jerusalem Times” could have read on March 14, 33 AD, “Jesus Coming back to Jerusalem.”

He came to Jerusalem in year 33 AD. Jesus will return to earth ___________ .

Only God can fill in the blank, but the Bible through prophecy details many signs for us to watch. One of the signs we are to watch is Christ’s return to Jerusalem in Daniel chapter nine.

Daniel 9:25-26 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. [26] And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

The commandment to rebuild the walls was given March 14, 445 B.C. but was prophesied 538 BC. This was almost a century before it happened.

Luke 13:31-35 The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee. [32] And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be perfected. [33] Nevertheless I must walk today, and tomorrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem. [34] O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not! [35] Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Were the people of Jerusalem prepared to share their world with this King

Are you preparing for Christ’s re-entry ?

Who is this Christ? Should I be happy or sad?

Let’s examine the person. Listen to what witnesses said and listen to some of prayers of Christ’s.

John the Baptist said, “I’m not worthy to untie his shoes”

Acts 13:25 And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think ye that I am? I am not he. But, behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose.

The Apostle Paul said, “He is concerned for the whole of humanity.”

1 Tim. 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Peter said, “He’s trustworthy.”

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Return to Jerusalem.

Matthew 16:21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

Matthew 21:10 And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?

His Prayers

1. The Father – Son relationship.
John 17:1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

2. Notice how He watched over generations of believers.

John 17:18-21 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. [19] And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. [20] Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; [21] That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

3. Christ’s Mission.

Luke 22:42-44 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

4. His love for Jerusalem.

Luke 13:34-35
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not! [35] Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Company is coming.

Jesus came and He is coming back.
